The Company Group

The ELMŰ-ÉMÁSZ-MÁSZ group is one of Hungary’s biggest company groups in terms of economic performance, with a hundred years of history. The two parent companies of Hungarian Electricity Supply Kft. (MÁSZ), namely Budapest Electricity Works (ELMŰ) and North-Hungarian Electricity Supply Nyrt. (ÉMÁSZ), occupy distinguished positions in the yearly Top200 list of Hungarian companies and the Top10 list of Hungarian energy companies.

ELMŰ, being Hungary’s biggest electricity supplier and energy consulting company, provides more than 1,300,000 clients with electric energy around Budapest and its conurbation both as a universal service provider and as the competitive market trading partner of thousands of corporate clients. ÉMÁSZ, its sister company, also a significant electricity supplier in Hungary, is responsible for the high quality electricity supply of more than 700,000 consumers around 718 communities in the North Hungary region; like ELMŰ, it is both universal service provider and energy retailer.

MÁSZ - in cooperation with its sister company, SINERGY Energy Supply, Project Implementation and Consulting Kft. (SINERGY), market leader in the implementation, operation and maintenance of complex energy production and supply projects, also co-owned by ELMŰ and ÉMÁSZ - endeavours to participate in the implementation of energy rationalization projects, to ensure the economical energy consumption of consumers.

The owners of our company group have shares of different proportions in some other highly significant companies of the Hungarian energy sector, such as Budapest Decorative and Public Lighting Kft. (BDK), Budapest Gas Works Zrt. (FŐGÁZ), East Hungarian Gas Supply Zrt. (TIGÁZ), and Mátra Power Plant Zrt., which produces as much as 13% of the Hungarian economy’s electric energy consumption.
